Peptide Mechanism

MT-1 (Melanotan 1): MT-1 (also known as Afamelanotide) is a synthetic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It selectively activates the MC1R (melanocortin 1 receptor) on melanocytes, triggering increased production and release of eumelanin (dark brown/black pigment). Because MC1R is primarily expressed in the skin rather than the brain, MT-1 produces a highly targeted tanning effect with a much cleaner side-effect profile than MT-2, which hits multiple receptor subtypes including MC3R and MC4R in the central nervous system.
